Beauty Icon: Carol Lombard

With an acting career than spanned more than 20 years, Carol Lombard was more than notable. She began her film career as a young girl playing a tomboy in the movie The Perfect Crime. Her career has it's roots in silent film with a very successful crossover to "talkies" proving her strength as an actress. Lombard should be noted for her fantastic wit and sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humour. As a result, she often starred in screwball comedies, one of her most notable movies being the Hitchcock classic, Mr & Mrs Smith. A true Hitchcock blonde, she enticed many actors including William Powell and Clark Gable both of whom she would go on to marry. Her life was tragically cut short by a plane crash at age 33. However, she is not easily forgotten. In 1999, she was listed as number 23 out of the 50 Greatest American Screen Legends.

Her look truly symbolizes Old Hollywood beauty. Fresh-faced yet with underlying vamp. Carol Lombard is definitely iconic. Her makeup was flawless and her blonde coif a constant soft, curly dream.
